33x AROUND THE SUN (2005)

Written and directed by Volcano Associate Artist, John Hardwick , with music by long time company collaborator, Patrick Fitzgerald and featuring performances from Fern Smith and Philip Ralph, this film is an absolute must for the Volcano Screen season. 33x Around The Sun is a dreamlike journey into a world where nothing is quite what it seems. It follows the story of a man who wakes up in an apparently abandoned hospital then walks out into the night in search of answers. As our hero wanders the mysteriously empty streets he encounters a series of characters who emerge from the shadows like the lost and the damned. These moonstruck individuals all seem to share a connection – a connection that might lead him to the truth he seeks. Inspired by the legend of Orpheus in the Underworld, this remarkable film is unlike anything you will ever see – part David Lynch nightmare, part hilarious fever dream.

The film will be introduced by director John Hardwick and preceded by his short film, To Have And To Hold (2000) which stars Volcano artistic director, Paul Davies. John will also attend a post screening discussion about the film and the process involved in its creation – which took over four years – along with Fern, Paul and Phil who will discuss working on the films.

All screenings start at 7.30pm prompt. All tickets are £5 which includes tea, cake and post show discussions.
