Bronwyn
is 23 and has a Communications degree (specialising in Film) from the
University of Technology in Sydney. At the time of writing she is working
in the UK on various projects with Volcano, Improbable Theatre and The
David Glass Ensemble, having won a travelling scholarship from the Australian
Theatre for Young People. She initially approached Volcano as a "work-experience"
person, but her expertise, dedication and versatility soon put her in
key roles in a number of the company's projects. She has toured to The
Edinburgh Fringe and to Cologne with This Imaginary Woman and
TalkSexShow and even managed to make a short film, Past Master,
whilst in Edinburgh with the company.
With the Australian Theatre for Young People, Bronwyn has performed
in various productions and assisted tutors with Summer Workshops. Bronwyn
also runs regular film-, drama- and arts-based activities for a group
of people with disabilities at a Neighbourhood Centre.
Bronwyn's experience with filmmaking first put her in touch with BIG
hART, a company working with marginalised young people in regional Australia
using film, radio, web and theatre. She directed Not At Home
for BIG hART, and has also been working as actor, director and/or producer
on a number of their radio and sound art works, some of which have been
broadcast on public radio and released on CD.
As a young director and filmmaker, Bronwyn is very interested in alternative
methods of storytelling: including using non-traditional narrative techniques;
working with 'non-actors' (as well as actors) and collaborating with
them in the process of telling their stories (as she has been doing
with young marginalised people through BIG hART). Bronwyn enjoys exploring
soundscape and filmic technique for theatre .
