Jan Knightley

Worked with Volcano on the first version of Manifesto in 1992/3, and on The Message, with Nigel Charnock directing, in 1996. Jan is currently performing with his own new company, Black Dog Productions, in Salt Lake City: "Macbeth" was Black Dog's most recent show - Jan played Mr. Macbeth. Also recently completed filming Terminal - a film by Corridor Productions here in Utah. Directing a devised version of Boccaccio's Decameron at the University of Utah in autumn 2003. Played Horatio in Salt Lake Shakespeare's version of Hamlet in June 2003. Previous work has been, recently, 4 years at Shakespeare's Globe in London - starting with The Comedy of Errors, directed by Kathryn Hunter in 1999; Augustine's Oak, that same year; Hamlet and The Antipodes in 2000; Macbeth in 2001; Twelfth Night and The Golden Ass in 2002; Monkey! with The Young Vic; Pinocchio, directed by Marcello Magni at The Lyric, Hammersmith; Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream with Opera North.

Jan has worked with Steven Berkoff (Messiah); Theatre de Complicité (The Noise of Time); Communicado Theatre Co.; Boilerhouse; The Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh; The London Bubble; The English Theatre, Frankfurt; Bread and Puppet Theatre, Vermont; The Royal National Theatre (Peter Pan - two years on the trot, playing the dog); I've also done rep. at Musselburgh and at Hexham; Co-devised Headstate with Irvine Welsh and Boilerhouse Theatre Company.
