Paul
Davies
Artistic Director,
Volcano Theatre Company
Paul
left school at 16 and worked in a steelworks for three years before discovering
adult education. Just prior to that discovery, he entered the peculiar
world of martial arts: he has a black belt and was for a brief time in
the Welsh squad. In danger of succumbing to total madness, he was awarded
a scholarship at the University College of Swansea. His doctorate was
on Utopian Socialist Theory, with special reference to British socialism.
Somewhere in the middle of all this, he met Fern Smith and together they
set up Volcano Theatre Company. Paul has written three plays: Vagina
Dentata, Moments
of Madness and, most recently, TalkSexShow.
He has been associate professor at the University of Quebec, Montreal
and has written a number of articles on Volcano and contemporary British
theatre.
