This is a flexible, attractive space suitable for exhibitions, events and receptions/launches. The gallery operates according to a DIY ethic - artists install their own work and may rearrange the space and furnishings to suit. There is one mobile wall. You may paint and/or screw fixings into the gallery walls, but are expected to make good any alterations and return the gallery to the state in which you found it. For this reason a returnable damage/disposal deposit of £50 is payable on Exhibition hires in addition to the charges below.

Seaside Gallery Exhibition Rates
The following standard exhibition packages are available for visual/installation artists:
TWO WEEKS' EXHIBITION + one evening reception event: £150 + VAT (£180 inc VAT)
ONE MONTH EXHIBITION + one evening reception event: £290 + VAT (£348 inc VAT)
We take 20% commission on artwork sold through the exhibition, and are able to take cash and card payments.

- Monday to Friday: 10:00am - 5:30pm

A large, adaptable, grungy but atmospheric theatre space with the option of having seating configured in multiple ways.
Ideal for performances, small gigs, workshops, auditions, rehearsals, photoshoots or screenings. Approximately half the space is a raised stage area with a sprung plywood floor, compression tiles and laid dancefloor.
IMPORTANT: Audience capacity is dependent on staging/format. Typical capacity for small-scale end-on performance is 60-100. Max 180 for seated events. There are some sightline restrictions.
Power is a 63amp 3-phase supply via Avolites power cube. General lighting rig and two speaker sound system included in hire cost.

Day rate includes get-in from 10am through to get-out by 11pm. Pre-rig/theatre technician/show operator is not included.

We do not generally distribute your print elsewhere or provide paid advertising or bespoke marketing campaigns, and are able to provide only limited press/PR support. We recommend that you have a marketing plan for your event and are happy to discuss this with you. We do not have a staffed telephone box-office, but are happy to take enquiries and reservations by phone.
We have a number of other spaces within open-plan areas that may be suitable for informal meetings etc. Session rates on enquiry
Duty staff and ushers can be provided outside of office hours of 09:30 and 17:30 for an additional charge, subject to availability.
Additional staff can be provided at cost:

The Small Print:
·Discounts may be available on extended hires subject to type of use.
·Various seating and tables etc are available at no extra charge. Maximum capacity is 150 to 300 people including staff, dependant on space hired.
·Other spaces within the building may be available for complementary storage etc. during the hire.
·Additional equipment is not included. Limited equipment including dancefloor, stereo, PA and simple theatre lighting may be hired from Volcano subject to availability.
·Technical staff support is available at extra cost. If you are hiring space outside of our working hours you will be charged an additional £25+VAT as a keyholder fee.
·DIY tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge and microwave are available if your group/company is 10 people or less.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
All companies and individuals working in The Iceland Building must have in place their own Public and (if applicable) Employers liability insurance and will need to provide Volcano with a copy of the certificate before the hire date.
In addition it is advised that as all belongings are brought onto the premises at the owners’ risk, that you have appropriate insurance cover for any item of value.
The hirer will ensure that no unauthorized persons are permitted on the premises, and will take reasonable steps to ensure the good conduct of all persons under his/her supervision. The hirer will not knowingly permit any person under his/her supervision to remove or cause damage to any equipment, fixtures or fittings within the building.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES (except as necessary in an emergency) must any space with an exit/entrance to the street be left unsecured whilst unsupervised.
The hirer will not make material alterations to the fixtures, fittings or décor of the building unless previously agreed in writing.
The hirer will submit a risk assessment in advance of the hire. Risk assessment must include an emergency evacuation procedure and evidence of adequate supervision for the number of people on the premises. Volcano will ensure that the hirer is aware of the locations of alarms and fire exits.
The Iceland Building is licensed for the sale of alcohol. We can provide a bar by arrangement. Sales of alcohol may not be made by any person who is not authorized by the designated premises supervisor.
The hirer must comply with the building’s waste and recycling policy, and encourage all staff and participants to separate waste and maximise recycling.
The hirer will ensure that the space is left in a similar condition to that at the beginning of the hire, and will make good any permitted alterations within the hire period unless otherwise agreed.
The hirer will take reasonable steps to ensure that all applicable events, activities and services are compliant with the provisions of the Equalities Act 2010.
Hirers are expected to comply with all loading and parking restrictions. The building is in a busy pedestrian area – appropriate care should be taken with all manoeuvres, and a banksman used wherever necessary.
