i-witness
Have you ever read a book that changed your life?
Touring the UK Autumn 2009.
"A shimmeringly unusual meditation... This challenging,
charismatic and suitably unclassifiable production leaves us in no doubt
that books matter." The Guardian, 2008
This dark , funny piece sees a quartet of performers appeal to the audience
to see things their way as they wrestle with a remarkable book that has
both troubled and inspired them. i–witness is based on The
Rings of Saturn by WG Sebald.
It's an intimate, powerful and direct performance in which the audience
can see, feel and even smell the workings of the show. The cast combines
technical excellence in acting and dance with boldness, risk and imaginative
flair to create a visually and emotionally arresting experience. i–witness
uses stringent theatrical discipline to achieve authentic, technically
simple but powerful performance.
"I
thought it had great pace and fantastic energy and was so seamless the
way you moved from one part to the next - so many many things stay with
me -... All of it was superb...” Angela Morgan Cutler (audience member)
i-witness opened
on 31 October 2008 at Taliesin Arts Centre, Swansea, and toured the UK
for six weeks. 2009 tour dates will be posted here.
