THIS CALLOUT IS NOW CLOSED.
From the Station to the Sea seeks to commission an artist to develop and create a fully accessible and inclusive community leisure space on Swansea High Street, designed collaboratively with pupils and staff of Ysgol Crug Glas, a nearby school for 3 to 19 year olds, all of whom have profound and multiple or complex learning difficulties.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Thresholds is part of From the Station to the Sea, a partnership between Volcano Theatre and Coastal Housing Group funded by Arts Council of Wales as part of its Ideas:People:Places initiative. It has also received funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery. The project is built upon a strong sense of location - it is about the High Street connecting diverse interests within the surrounding communities, and about citizens shaping their own urban environment. Thresholds is part of the process of actively reshaping the street and community, and reclaiming space for citizens which commerce has previously exploited and subsequently neglected. The project brings together organisations of varied size and purpose which are meaningfully embedded within their communities and share a long term interest in promoting a diverse, active and inclusive High Street.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
We are interested in hearing from a diverse range of experienced artists from all backgrounds and artistic practices with a strong sense of collaborative working. Ideally the artist will have experience of or an interest in working inclusively with children or young people and people with learning difficulties. The artist will be supported throughout by staff at Ysgol Crug Glas and From the Station to the Sea.
Please download the callout for details of how to apply. Deadline 14 March.
