We are delighted to announce that our Yr Odyn artists 2016 are Morgan Thomas and Pain in the Arts Theatre Company.
Pain in the Arts will be developing a performance that explores the story of the Welsh International Brigades in the Spanish Civil War; whilst Morgan will be working on movement, monologue, music and image in a project about relationships with the working title That's Fucking Bollocks You Need Spoon Feeding. You will be able to see some of the work they are producing at Novemberfest 2016.
Yr Odyn and Volcano
Yr Odyn is a unique scheme from Volcano designed to support emerging artists in Wales. Through the scheme, Volcano offers a professional and genuine space for research and development to encourage a thorough process of discovery and creativity with critical feedback at its core, enabling artists to examine their own practice and realise their potential with courage, ambition and integrity. Volcano has drawn on its extensive experience, unique working methods and excellent resources to create a developmental opportunity that demands real engagement from its participants in return for its transformative effect on their thinking and practice.
Yr Odyn is based in Volcano's headquarters in The Iceland Building on Swansea High Street. The opportunities the company offers as part of the scheme include free access to practical rehearsal and development space, one-to-one coaching and mentoring, guidance in arts management, as well as more informal opportunities to meet with partners and Associate Artists. There will also be opportunities to participate in creative events and gatherings organised by Volcano throughout the duration of the award.
