Our Fringe venue for 2017 was a beautiful but derelict church in the heart of Leith, brought back to life for the month of August as a unique space for ambitious independent theatre, music and dance at the Fringe. The Leith Volcano is the latest and most ambitious Fringe project brought to you by Volcano in association with our Leith partners. Watch this space for future projects.
LEITH VOLCANO PARTNERS: BISCUIT FACTORY | DECAGRAM | BARNACLES & BONES
“The real fringe is alive and well and living in Leith […] three great shows back to back – felt like a better-programmed 1990 De Marco Gallery. Well done to team Volcano for creating a space which entirely encapsulated the true (and increasingly forgotten) spirit of the fringe!” The British Council
Thanks to all the partners, colleagues, staff, artists, friends, volunteers and local supporters who helped make the Leith Volcano possible, and thanks especially to everyone who came to see a show or a gig or to hang out in the bar. Thanks to Oh Really Creative, Custom Lane, Top Out Brewery, Black Metal Brewery, Leith Creative, The Hideout Cafe, Stage Lighting Services, Hanging Rock, PrintSponge and Leith Copy & Print. Special thanks to Ed Stack, Radomir Veverka, Owen O'Leary, Fran Roberts, Liam Gardiner, Hal Prescott, Anna, Bree, Eloy and Matt.
SEAGULLS was presented at the Leith Volcano with support from the Wales in Edinburgh initiative from Arts Council of Wales / Wales Arts International. It was part of the British Council Edinburgh Showcase.
The Leith Volcano (Fringe Venue 183) was created in the building and grounds of the disused St James's Episcopal Church, 119 Constitution Street, Edinburgh, EH6 7AE.
